Hydration/Pure Water - Our body is made up of 65% water but most people do not even drink it daily. Instead they drink coffee, tea or soda which does not give the body what it needs. The body needs this pure water to flush the system and help clean our organs. If we forget this, our organs can back up and cause problems. If you feel dry in your mouth, you are beyond dehydrated!!! To find out how much water you need to consume daily, you take your weight and divide it by 2 and that is how many ounces you need daily. Please use Pure water. I am not a fan of tap water! I personally use our reversed osmosis system with double carbon filters from Nature's Sunshine Products. Not all waters are the same.
Live Food - I am sure that some of you are asking what is a live food. It is something that comes from the earth and is natural, pure and whole like fruits and vegetables. In the early days everyone ate the food that they planted and disease seemed to be better than now. We eat ourselves to death. We eat fast (fat) food and from vending machines. These choices do not provide any enzymes to help digest. We should eat over half of our food raw. We lose enzyme activity in our food when they are not live food. This makes our bodies have to work harder to digest our foods. If you are having a difficult time consuming fruits and vegetables then I recommend these supplements: Green Zone capsules or powder, Alfalfa, Barley Juice, Chlorophyll, Kelp, Limu, Spirulina or Thai-Go.
Deep Breathing - So many of us breath from the top of our lungs and not our abdomen. We should breath deep daily to circulate the air in our lungs to revitalize the oxygen levels in our bloodstream. We can survive several days without food, many days without water but only minutes without oxygen.
Ph Balancing - We have all heard about acid and alkaline foods but do we understand the importance? Diet is the primary influence in maintaining the correct PH ratio in the body. The easiest way to explain it quickly is to think that most breads/meats are acid and most fruits/vegetables are alkaline. It is not always correct but works most of the time. For example, when you think of a lemon, you think it is an acid fruit but it will help change the Ph to alkaline environment in your body. So yes, add lemon to your water. But if our diets only consist of acid foods (coffee, tea, soda, undigested foods) the body has no option but to take minerals like calcium from bones and other vital organs to maintain a buffer. How long can that continue in our body? Just remember that your body is your processing plant. It can only use what it is given. What I believe balances this best is calcium/magnesium and sodium/potassium in the correct proportion. When you have those balances and eat a balanced diet, your body will thrive. The supplements that I encourage others to use to help balance PH is Bowel Detox, Calcium-Magnesium, Chlorophyll, Food Enzymes, Ionic Minerals, Limu, Proactazyme Plus, Probiotic Eleven, Skeletal Strength, or Stomach Comfort. We have more but these are my favorites.
Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's)- There are good fats and bad fats. When the "fat free" diet craves came to the scene, I was extremely concerned. This caused people to look at foods to see the fat content. People stopped eating things that naturally had fats in them. This is crazy. If someone drinks milk, I encourage them to use whole milk so they can get the fats instead of 2% or skim milk. That is the best part of milk. The reason that they are called "essential" fatty acids is because the body cannot produce them. They must be obtained from our foods and supplements. These fats play a vital role in our brains, bones, nervous system and nearly every cell of the body. When the door squeaks you put oil on it but when our knees and joints crack we just keep going. We need to lube our bodies just as we do things that squeak in our homes. If you are craving fatty foods, then you are most likely deficient in EFA's. You can get Natural sources of EFA's in fish, grains and nuts. But if these are not a part of your diet then the supplements that I encourage my clients to use are Flax Seed Oil, Krill Oil, Limu, Super GLA or Super Omega-3. But you need to make sure that you are assimilating your EFA's. What I have found to do that the best is Vitamin B-Complex, Vitamin C and/or Rose Hips.
Digestion - You have heard the statement, "You are what you eat?" I would like to take this a step further and say, "You are what you digest". Digestion is where I ALWAYS start when someone who comes to me for help. Many of our problems start from our digestive track. Your body is your processing plant and it can only digest what you give it. If you give your body poison then that is the only choice your body has to work with. It can only process what you give it. It can not reach for the counter and grab a piece of fruit to get more enzymes. Most of our foods we eat today are so processed in some way for preservation. For example, we pasteurize, homogenize, and put chemicals into our foods to have a longer shelf life. My rule of thumb that I try to follow is if it comes in a bag, can or jar, it is probably not your best choice. I will make the exception for frozen vegetables and protein shakes. The processing of these foods can eliminate some extremely vital enzymes. Without these enzymes, it is difficult on the body. Lacking enzymes makes it challenging for our bodies to completely digest our food. Undigested food becomes toxic in our bodies. Our bodies must get rid of the toxicity or it will become a poison to the body. If you would just eat some live food (greens), the process could be completed much easier. I am confident that you have also heard that 80% of your immune is from your digestive tract. It is imperative that you work on digestion. You can choice one or more, but the supplements that I use are: PROACTAZYME PLUS, Bifidophilus, Food Enzymes, Hi-Lipase, Limu and/or Protease Plus.
Elimination - Everything that comes in our body, must come out of our body! Proper elimination is vital to your health. Do you take out your trash in your house? Of course you do and we need to do that for our bodies as well. If it does not exit our body daily then we are leaving unwanted toxins in our bodies. Did you know that in herbal school we are taught that you should eliminate after every meal if your body is PH balanced. About 20 minutes after a meal you should have a bowel movement. Have you noticed that when you feed an infant, they usually have a BM about 20 minutes after a meal. It is because there body is PH Balanced. I have many people tell me that they have a BM every other day. How many meals are then backed up in your colon? The last study I read said that if you only eliminate once daily you have up to 9 meals in your colon. If 80% of you immune system is in your colon guess what is happening to our bodies? This begins our diseases. I believe that we all should focus on Fiber to help us with this situation. There are 5 ways to eliminate waste in our bodies: Colon, Kidneys, Lungs, Lymph, and Skin. The products that I recommend are Activated Charcoal, Bowel Detox, Everybody's Fiber, Fat Grabbers, Gentle Move, LBSII, Limu, Nature's Three, and/or Slippery Elm.
*Bowels - Expels body waste and if under active this waste can be absorbed through the colon wall into the blood stream. *Kidneys - Rids the blood of waste products. *Lungs - Breathing clean air for oxygenating the body and eliminating carbon dioxide. *Lymph - Exercise and activity removes the toxins stored up the lymph glands. *Skin - The largest organ of our body that absorbs nutrients and eliminates toxins through our sweat.
Detox/Cleanse - Just as we spring clean our homes, we should all clean our bodies. I would recommend that you consider this in the spring and in the fall. It is just easier to remember those times when you clean your house. If we detox/cleanse, our bodies will release chemicals that could be potential problems. Once released, we need a way for them to pass. This is another reason it is so important to eliminate three times daily with each meal. What has worked best for my clients are Activated Charcoal, Bowel Detox, Clean Start, Dieter's Cleanse, Limu, Para Cleanse and Tiao He Cleanse.
Rebuild - Many people that come to me are so worryied about detoxing and cleaning that they forget about going back to the basics and starting the program over to build their body's back up. Your body will not give up things tills it has something in exchange. You always need to build your body back up and give your body a break. Please do not just clean, clean, and clean some more. Give your body a chance to respond. I recommend starting at the beginning of this program.
Exercise - Such an important part of a healthy lifestyle. The problem is the word exercise. We think yuck! Don't use the word exercise but think of a fun sweaty activity. It really does not matter what the activity is but we need to sweat. Remember that the largest organ in your body, the skin, eliminates toxins such as uric acid and ammonia, by sweating. When we do not exercise we build up toxins in our body, allow fat to accumulate in the arteries and the tissues, and age faster. Lack of a fun sweaty activity will lead to loss of muscle tone, obesity, lack of ability to absorb calcium, and toxic conditions which lead to diseases.
Rest - Allowing your body to rest is crucial in the healing process. Without proper rest, our bodies can not respond. Resting allows the body to rejuvenate and heal itself. If you are experiencing problems going to sleep or staying a sleep, I would encourage you to consider the following supplements: 5-HTP Power, Chamomile, Herbal Sleep, Kava Kava, Limu, Melatonin Extra, Nervous Fatigue Formula, Nutri-Calm, Stress Pack and/or Valerian.
Emotions - The statement, Laughter is the best medicine, I truly agree. Do things that make you smile, laugh, and bring you joy and peace. You are faced with so much stress on a daily basis that we need to help our bodies relax. If you are around someone that drains you, I would strongly encourage you to make better choices of who you spend your time with. If you feel that they are pulling you down, then their energy is a drainer and you do NOT need that. Stress will change your PH to acid extremely fast. See how this goes back to my basic program. Find a hobby and stick to it when you need a pick-me-up. If you do need a quick-pick-me up I encourage Distress Remedy and Bach Flowers.
