I was always a fan of MTV, if it was a reality show you bet I was tuning in. I remember watching all the challenges and I saw this beautiful individual, Diem Brown. The moment when she was on TV showing her bald head was one of the most captivating moments I've ever witnessed. She had beauty not only on the outside, but skin deep. Her strength, courage, hope and faith shined through. To be honest I never really looked into Ovarian cancer at the time her challenge was airing, I just knew saw her strength on MTV & knew her cancer diagnosis.
So years down the line I got diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and I felt the need to reach out to somebody and I ended up writing Diem a message on facebook and asking her about her diagnosis and everything. We became friends on facebook and share a bond now that nobody understands & I hold her dear to my heart, although we have never met in person (yet!) :) we will always tie together and I appreciate that!
After being in remission, Diem's cancer came back. :/ She is looking now into freezing her eggs and she actually started Medgift for patients. It's a gift registry that combines the benefits of social media, MedGift provides a community of support for patients. An online listing of a patient’s specific needs, wishes and things they want during treatment and also recovery,
In conclusion, Diem is a hero of mine, a strong survivor and she has been blessed with the words, cancer free (again)!!! :) I am rooting for you Diem, you are changing many lives for the better and I commend you for that!!!
