Cancer has Cancer

This is Kricket Serota, we climbed a mountain tied together. I met her at the week long First Descents Rock Climbing in Estes Park, CO. She was in active treatment for stage IV Colon Cancer and still in her early forties.

I can't tell you why people are in your life or not, what the reason or purpose of it is or why someone dies. But I can tell you she taught me the best life lesson that one could get out of life. As we climbed our final challenge of the week, we both were to weak to do it alone and were literally tied together. She climbed first as I followed behind. If one of us fell then so did the other. It was about a 2-3 hour climbed, she took a few breaks to eat and I peed off the side of the cliff.  I tell you, I'm great at following instructions but not so much as to following others, and if anyone could get me to do just that, it was Kricket.

I can barely keep it together, I'm crying and I don't know that anyone else in my life has had such a positive impact on me.

Sometimes people are in our lives for a short moment but make the most impact on us. I will never, never forget her, she's too special. She taught me how to trust and lean on someone else, again. I'm heart broken and with my sincere condolences to her friends and family I send many air hugs. Kricket passed away this morning from Colon Cancer. She earned those glittery Angel wings...
